A long, long time ago
In a school in Lake City
I was sitting down in Cora’s class
Her grammar lessons set the path
And Jody made me good at math
And sometimes we would sit out
On the grass
But now and then we watched a movie
And some of them were pretty groovy
For quite some time our class read
Romeo and Juliet
The security guard’s name was Dave
In French class I was all the rave
We all wound up at Wild Waves
Three years before 00.

Oh my, my, good times for you and I
You wouldn’t find me wearing a suit and tie
Do you remember that Josh Schribner guy?
Just like me he said his Bye-Byes
Just like him I’m sayin’ Bye-Bye.

Did you know this Upward Bound teacher
Was hit by a car on the lawn of a preacher
But he can play guitar, they say
Now, did you read every single word
Of the book To Kill a Mockingbird
While me and Casey danced to YMCA
Well, Al would preach chump change and more
And we’d wait outside of the door
For him to come unlock it
I got deep ducket pockets
Well I always won at Knowledge Bowl
And Zoology class took its toll
I learned to tap for the musical
Two years before 00.

And I was singin’
My, my good times for you and I
When the class saw Titanic it made me want to cry
Peter let us have lots of fun with sci-fi
But now it’s time to say Bye-Bye
We’re all going to say Bye-Bye.

Well Andy’s class was a big surprise
For everyday we’d realize
Just how few kids would be within
We’d pass the time with Howard Zinn
I enjoyed Huckleberry Finn
While The Crucible told us all
Not to sin
I was always ready for a show
Like reciting Edgar Allen Poe
Men in Black was pretty nice
Just like Amish Paradise
Well, Running Start I took and ran
And it rained too much to get a tan
But I played the dirty old man
One year before 00

And we were singin

My, my, good times for you and I
In Natural Helpers I was the only guy
I laughed really hard at American Pie
And now I’m ready to say Bye-bye
Let’s get together and say Bye-bye

Well, I refused to claim defeat
On the Natural Helper retreat
We talked about our hopes and fears
I shelled out money for my ring
And then began to dance and sing
To an album that was made by Britney Spears
I wore a dress not a leotard
In a comedy made by the bard
Then sat in at a trial
And enjoyed many a smile
At the prom we jived and shook our feet
And Canada was pretty neat
We rocked the house on Christopher Street
Now here we are in ‘00

And I was singing
My, my, good times for you and I
I’ll take you to Wendy’s for a Coke and some fries
We didn’t look back but up to the sky
And now we’re ready to say Bye-Bye
It’s time for us all to say Bye-Bye

We are singing
My, my, good times for you and I
I’m leaving campus with a gleam in my eye
But it was worth it and that ain’t no lie
So join us now in saying Bye-Bye
